New Acute Care Facility Expected To Open In Early 2021

Orlando Health was excited to have elected officials and community members in attendance for a special "Topping Out" ceremony to commemorate the completion of structural construction at its newest facility, Orlando Health - Horizon West Hospital.

"The topping out ceremony signifies completion of a major phase of this construction project," said Mark Marsh, President of Orlando Health - Health Central Hospital. "While there is still more work to do, this event gives our community partners an opportunity to visit the site and join us in celebrating this significant milestone for Orlando Health and the Horizon West community."

Orlando Health began construction of its latest hospital project in March of this year and expects the hospital to come online in early 2021. The six-story, 214,000 sq. ft. facility will be a full service, acute care hospital with a capacity of 120 beds. The hospital's patient bed tower is being built adjacent to the emergency department and medical pavilion Orlando Health opened on the site in September 2018. The medical campus currently feature services that include primary care, family medicine, OB/GYN, general surgery, laboratory, orthopedics, neurology, pediatrics, urology, cardiology, pharmacy, outpatient rehabilitation and a center for health improvement.

The construction the hospital will generate more than 500 construction jobs. Once fully operational, the Horizon West Medical Campus will create more than 750 new permanent healthcare jobs. The total hospital project cost is $145 million. Orlando-based Robins & Morton Corp. is the project general contractor and HuntonBrady Architects PA is the architect.
