Notes from a Frustrated Publisher

Perspective from a Registered Independent…

I am FRUSTRATED! Frustrated by Local, State & Federal governments across this great nation! Mask mandates and continued inaccurate COVID-19 metrics clearly demand accountability.

I am not a doctor, nor a scientist. I am a medical newspaper publisher and have been for the past 15 years working in conjunction with our editorial team, to provide medical news to our niche physician and healthcare professional audience. Key word - “provide,” not edit, or opinion.

I hear the word “Science” repeatedly in news shows on CNN, CNBC, and FOX. Opinion shows like Morning Joe, Cuomo, Dana Leosch and Rush are even worse. Manage to Science. Really?

I.) Mask Mandate Debate

Advice on the Use of Masks in the Context of COVID-19

“Advice to decision makers on the use of masks for healthy people in community settings: As described above, the wide use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not supported by current evidence and carries uncertainties and critical risks.”

Bullets from June 2020 World Health Organization

  • According to current evidence, COVID-19 virus is primarily transmitted between people via respiratory droplets and contact routes. Droplet transmission occurs when a person is in close contact (within 1 meter) with an infected person and exposure to potentially invective respiratory droplets occurs, for example, through coughing, sneezing or very close personal contact resulting in the inoculation of entry portals such as the mouth, nose or conjunctiva.

Practical Application - Social distancing and common courtesy. Add regular hand washing and daily disinfecting of your smart phone and keyboard. Pray for “Herd Immunity,” it’s real and scientifically validated.

Advice on the use of Masks in the Context of COVID-19 Interim guidance 5 June 2020

  • Results from cluster randomized controlled trials on the use of masks among young adults living in university residences in the United States of America indicate that face masks may reduce the rate of influenza-like illness, but showed no impact on risk of laboratory-confirmed influenza.(62, 63) At present, there is no direct evidence (from studies on COVID19 and in healthy people in the community) on the effectiveness of universal masking of healthy people in the community to prevent infection with respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.

WHO regularly monitors all emerging evidence?

Practical Application – Masks

  • Social Distancing and common courtesy.
  • Add in regular hand washing, daily disinfecting of your Smart Phone and Keyboard and pray for “Herd Immunity.

It's sure NOT Science! The question must be asked… Political, Financial, and can the government be trusted?

II.) Accuracy of Florida’s COVID-19 Metrics?

Labs Not Reporting Negative Test Results

https://www.mysuncoast.com/2020/07/15/is-floridas-covid-positivity-rate-accurate-labs-not-reporting-negative-test-results/

  • This is a real problem because the percentage positive ratio is an important metric for reopening the economy and schools. If you add to the numerator and not to the denominator, you’re biasing that ratio upwards, so we’re getting misleading information.
  • Even worse, now that people know about this, this is seriously undermining the credibility of the Florida Department of Health statistics, so we don’t really know what’s accurate and what’s not accurate,” explained Dr. Rebel Cole, a business professor at Florida Atlantic University, which is about to publish its own data tracker.

* The Florida Department of Health has confirmed that close to 400 laboratories were not reporting negative COVID-19 test results to them.

Orlando Health Reports 98% Positivity Rate

https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/fox-35-investigates-florida-department-of-health-says-some-labs-have-not-reported-negative-covid-19-results

  • The report showed that Orlando Health had a 98 percent positivity rate. However, when FOX 35 News contacted the hospital, they confirmed errors in the report. Orlando Health's positivity rate is only 9.4 percent, not 98 percent as in the report.

FACT: CMS Covid 19 Reimbursement is 2x normal Reimbursement

  • The VA Hospital also confirmed a significant reporting error the same week.
  • Advent Health reported that 100% of patients visiting CentraCare one day coded COVID-19.

It's sure NOT Science! The question must be asked… Political, Financial, and can the government be trusted?
