Full job description

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides general nursing care to the patients within the LPN scope of practice and following all standards of care and facility requirements.

Primary Functions

1.Greet and room patients promptly and with courtesy
2. Take full vital signs, as well as height and weight at each office visit
3. Explain procedures to patients to allay apprehension and gain cooperation. Have patient fill out appropriate paperwork before each procedure.
4. Administer prescribed medication, injections and treatment in accordance with approved nursing technique, within scope of practice
5. Prepare equipment and assist medical provider during treatment and examination of patient
6. Chart accurately and promptly in the EMR
7. Initiate patient education plans with patient and family
8. Rotate among various departments and office sites as needed
9. Keep exam rooms prepared, cleaned and stocked; empty biohazard waste
10. Help maintain efficient patient flow through communication with healthcare teams
11. Answer telephone and messages in a timely manner within 24 hours
12. Monitor desktop and send patient letters / make phone calls daily
13. Answer patient questions as needed and within scope of practice
14. Complete 48-hour chart check daily and fill-out appropriate logs as indicated 15. Make lab and specialty appointments for patients
16. Respond to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocols within the scope of nursing practice
17. Complete other duties as assigned

 


Education and Experience

1.High school diploma or equivalent
2. Completion of accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program required
3. Current Florida License, active and in good standing
4. Current CPR certification

1.Understand and strive to maintain teamwork
2. Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams
3. Ability to demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detail
4. Ability to work under pressure
5. Possess a good working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
